Interview with the super duo Stadiumx!
The Hungarians Zsolt Milichovski and David Nagy had a great year in 2014. You may know these names as well as David and Sully, or better, as the duo Stadiumx!
The duo from Budapest, Hungary, had successful tracks released by Nicky Romero’s label last year, including 2 beatport’s top: “Ghost”, a collab with Tom Swoon and Rico & Miella, and the track that made them explode, even reaching the top of the aforementioned ranking and winning a platinum record “Howl at the Moon” featuring Taylr Renee.
We chatted a little with the guys, who came here in the 2nd half of last year, and they revealed that comes a big Stadiumx year besides having sent a message for the fans in Portuguese at the end!
How did the idea of forming a duo come up?
Sully was/is part of the Muzzaik duo and when we met each other, we shared a deep love for house music and the idea behind the whole Stadiumx project wasn’t because we wanted to aim at a bigger spectrum of people or change our style to a more hyped one, but we’ve been producing house tracks for a few years now but sometimes we’ve felt we have a lot of new ideas that we couldn’t put into house tracks, so we had to increase our limits and skills to do something else and something different and Stadiumx was born.”
Which are the biggest challenges of working as duo? Which are the strengths and weaknesses, if there are any?
Well, it actually goes really well! Of course you have to be able to spend a lot of time together, inside the studio and on stage/tour, but we love it!
What are the DJs that each is inspired?
Definitely Axwell, Jeremy Olander, Eric Prydz, Nicky Romero, Chocolate Puma, Tube & Berger and Mark Knight.
In your trip to Brazil, what was your impression? What about the receptivity and the crowd?
Brazil is amazing! The crowd is very enthusiastic and the energy is really high! Also, we love the country. People are very nice and welcoming, and the weather is not bad as well!
Have you had any experience with typical food, our culture, soccer or anything else?
Well, of course a lot of great soccer players come from Brazil, so we know them!
What is the track which was released this year that each of you takes as favorite?
It’s hard to say. We love our own tracks!
How does it feel to reach the top of Beatport and have your tracks strongly supported by the greatest DJs in the world, like Nicky Romero?
It feels really great, but we definitely worked very hard for it! So it’s nice to get respect from big names! Of course, getting the platinum record for ‘Howl at the Moon’ was also a very big achievement!
What is your favorite club? Which was your most memorable show?
We have many! But playing in our home country is always fun, also LIV in Johannesburg was quite cool, India, Taiwan, Brazil… too many! Club Octagon in South Korea is special as well !
If you could choose a club or festival to play, where would it be?
Ultra Miami! We want to play there next year for sure!
Do you prefer the vibe in a club or in a or festival?
We like both; it’s very different. A festival is bigger and mostly outside, which is fun (especially when the weather is good) and a club is more intimate and often packed with real fans, so that vibe is amazing as well!
If you could choose any DJ in the world for one collab, who would that be?
Axwell, Daft Punk would be nice to start with !
What are your expectations for 2015? What can we expect from you this year?
You can expect even bigger releases and lots of gigs! We are prepared for an amazing year!
Particularly, i think “Ghost” is a wonderful track, one of the best last year! Does the partnership with Rich & Miella and Tom Swoon could be repeated?
We loved producing Ghost. It was an amazing collaboration. Mostly, collabs are a one time thing, but perhaps!
Speaking as fans, have you had your “groupie moment”? Can you tell us about it?
We have a lot of really dedicated fans, but nothing really crazy has happened yet! We love our fan base. Ask us again in a year or so.
Do you want to return to Brazil? Are there any predictions about it?
We would really like to return to Brazil! Perhaps we will this year, but we can’t tell you just yet!
Would you leave a message for someone who is starting out?
Work hard and lock yourself up in the studio! A track is never finished, really. So be a perfectionist, it’s a good thing when it comes to producing music.
Can you tell us if there are any news in firsthand about releases and collabs? What are the new things coming up?
Unfortunately, we can’t tell you yet! But prepare for a big Stadiumx year!
Any message for your brazilian fans?
Amamos vocês! (We love you!)
